+ What maps and tools are in the Dynamic Mapping Suite?
As of Spring 2021, the Suite contains all the dynamic online postcode maps, dynamic ONS-based web maps, the Quick Select postcode map editor and a spreadsheet upload method for autocolouring and captioning postcodes. Further maps and mapping tools are in development.
+ Will I need to install software?
No. The dynamic maps and mapping tools can be used in any modern browser, e.g. Chrome or Safari updated since 2016. (Not Internet Explorer.)
+ Can I download the dynamic maps?
Dynamic maps are not standard image files that can be downloaded like PDFs, JPEGs, SVGs or Illustrator files. However, you will be able to download spreadsheets of your data after using the Quick Select postcodes editor.
+ Can I take screenshots and print the dynamic maps?
Yes, you may take screenshots for your personal or organisation’s internal use, e.g. for presentations and printing on your office printer.
But please note there is restricted licensing for screenshots of dynamic maps – you must not use screenshots in any commercial printing. This includes merchandise and printed publications such as posters, books, journals, brochures and flyers. Nor can you display a screenshot from a dynamic map on your website. These restrictions are set by the companies providing the web map technology – e.g. Mapbox and Google Maps – not by us.
For public display and commercial printing you need one of our downloadable vector artwork maps. These can be bundled with access to the Dynamic Mapping Suite.
+ Can I print a poster for my office wall?
If you have a large retina screen you may be able to print a small poster. Otherwise, screenshots generally go blurry if you try blowing them up to poster size. For better poster printing, you need one of our downloadable vector artwork maps which can be printed up sharply to any size. Our postcode and ONS-based downloadable maps all come bundled with discounted or free 14-day access to the Dynamic Mapping Suite, so you can have the best of both types of map!
+ Do I need a separate subscription and login for each member of my team?
No. A single login for your organisation will give your whole team access to the dynamic maps for as long as the subscription is active. Our Dynamic Mapping Suite offers exceptional value for teams. We suggest you use a general company email address for login and simply change your account password for the sake of security if your team members change.
+ Is there a usage limit?
Our low pricing is based on light to moderate usage. If you and your team load the dynamic online maps and/or search more than 10,000 times in a month then we will contact you to discuss heavy usage options.
